What's Your Excuse?

We've all got them.  Excuses.

Mine?  I'm exhausted.  I've got school lessons to take care of for the kids.  I've got a migraine again.  I don't know where to begin and I'm overwhelmed.  I'm shy.  I'm not a good speaker.  I'm not a writer.  I didn't go to college.  Someone else is smarter/better/prettier than I am.  See?  We've all got them.

Really?  Are we going to let THAT stop us?  Your answer has got to be NO.  No matter what the excuse, we've got to push beyond it if we want to succeed.

And if you need something to really blow your excuse, whatever it is, out of the water, go read this right now: http://www.chrisbrogan.com/106/

    excuses for what?
not blogging? not changing life asap?

i think we all need not to be to strict with ourselves.
live chases us a big deal and being women we try to do everything perfectly.
and we think being ill is not an excuse for being not productive!

we all need a balance in our life
productiveness but also well deserved lazyness!

My thoughts were excuses for not going after our goals. :)

But yeah, not a fan of the superwoman complex society seems to think we need to live up to.

        didn.t saw it that way.
maybe it is an excuse again.
going after ones goals – that.s good.
but what do you do when life prevents you to go for your goals?

        example:
single mom – a bunch of small kids wants to be a theater dancer – aka working in the evening
        nice goal
she can take dancing lessons but yet she has nobody to look after the kids in the evening.

is it an excuse or is it life that hinders her?

Life will always get in the way. Rising above the challenges life hands us is where magic happens.

Each person is the only one in her (or his) own shoes. So I won't pretend to know how to overcome all challenges or walk someone else's path.

But when I look at my own challenges, I know others have risen above even greater challenges, and if they can do it, I can do it, too–if my "why" is big enough.

    Hi Michelle,
I don't let excuses get in my way for too long. Sure I have temporary excuses but my conscious mind is always there telling me to get moving.

Hi Sandie, I think that's what the video was getting at — that excuses are usually things we fall back on to justify behavior that keeps us from going after big goals or dreams. Some of those who've changed the world in amazing ways or achieved great things had what most would consider very justifiable excuses NOT to accomplish what they did but they didn't let circumstances or other things stop them. :)

  4. If you have passion and zeal then there would be no excuse. Be positive and take every result in a positive way only then you can succeed.

There are a few things in life we will never run out of and an excuse is one of them. Excuses can be valid, however, when someone use excuses to keep them from taking action to achieve their results, then it's a problem. Refusing to accept your own excuses fosters growth.

Ah yes, excuses. I have them and I need to kick them to the curb. It becomes worse when I say to myself, for example, but really I have to work hard to write. I'm not a natural writer like so and so. Someone bonk m e on the head, already. Thanks for directing me to Chris Brogan's post.
