Once you’ve got your blog listed with NetworkedBlogs, here are some tips to help you leverage it to get more bang for your blog.
Anytime I mention the syndication page, here’s the link I’m referring to: http://w.networkedblogs.com/syndication
Send Your Posts to Twitter
You can use NetworkedBlogs to syndicate your posts to your Twitter accounts by following the steps at the end of yesterday’s tutorial. You may not want to do this if you’re already using Twitter Tools or a similar plugin, but it’s an option.
Promote Your Blog Posts on Groups and Fan Pages You Admin
From the same “Syndicate” space you can setup NetworkedBlogs to send your posts to groups and pages automatically. This will get your posts more exposure than if you only auto post to your profile.
Fill Out Your Profile Completely
As a blog author, you have a profile page. Fill out the details! http://apps.facebook.com/blognetworks/userpage.php You can add a short bio as well as multiple links.
Tell Your Readers They Can Follow You
Do your readers know how NetworkedBlogs works? Post about it and show them how they can follow you on Facebook using it.
You can do this by adding the NetworkedBlogs widget to your blog.
Use the Share Features
You can share your NetworkedBlogs listing on your profile page by clicking the “Share” button. And you can use the “Invite” link to invite friends to follow your blog. I don’t recommend inviting ALL of your friends, but do invite the ones you feel would be interested in your content.
Add a “Blog” Tab/Page to Your Fan Page
Have you seen the fan pages that have a special tab/page on their links showing their recent blog posts? It’s a great way to share your blog with your Facebook fans.
The good news is that it’s easy to add your own once you’ve got a Facebook fan page and your blog is listed with NetworkedBlogs.
Below is the step by step of how to get a “Blog” link and page on your fan page to share your most recent posts.
1) Go to your fan page and click the “Edit Page” button.
2) Click the “Apps” link on the left side of the page.
3) Find the “Browse more applications” link and click it.
4) Enter “Networked Blogs” in the search box and press Enter. Then click on “Networked Blogs” in the search results.
5) Next look for the “Add to My Page” link and click it.
6) In the pop up click the “Add to Page” button for the page that you want to add the blog page to.
7) Go back to your fan page and you’ll see the “Blog” link. Click it.
8) Now you need to tell NetworkedBlogs which blog to display. You’ll see a message like the one below. Click the “verify your settings” link.
9) You can choose your settings for your blog and fan page. If you want to publish it to your wall as well as to the page for your blog on your fan page, check the first box. If you want it to show only on your tab/page then click the second box. Scroll to the bottom of the page and save.
Why consider the second option? Facebook has been doing some crazy things with auto-published blog feeds for a while now. They’re not featuring them as visibly. So you might consider posting your newest blog links to your page by hand. Or doing both – allowing NetworkedBlogs to auto post but also adding it by hand a few hours later.
10) You’re all set! Now you’ve got a “Blog” link and page on your fan page.
Thank you again to Diana Simon for lending me her blog and page to create this tutorial.

Michelle, you’re amazing! You have a “how to add that cute little static Static FBML” post coming soon? :-)
Michelle Shaeffer says
With the recent changes in Facebook pages they made it a little tougher to do custom tabs/pages but I’ll see what I can put together. I’ve done the custom iframe app option. I’ll see what other options there are. :)
Amy Sue says
Thanks for another fantastic tutorial! Keep ’em coming… please?
Michelle Shaeffer says
Will do! :)
Angelika Davey says
That’s brilliant, Michelle, thanks!
I nearly didn’t read all of your post, as I don’t want to syndicate my posts (purely because I often post them with different comments on twitter and facebook.
But I do like the ‘blog’ addition to my fanpage and thanks to your instructions, I just did it – perfect!
Michelle Shaeffer says
Angelika, that’s a great strategy. I do the same often. My first tweet is automated but after that I send it out a few more times with different text/comments.
Yes, I hid a few other ideas in there, too.

I somehow got my blog onto Networked Blogs through Facebook, but truly had no idea how – so now I deconstruct & understand it better… and perhaps point my clients to your post too!!
Take care, and thnx!
Tracey
Michelle Shaeffer says
I’ve done that, too, Tracey. I get things setup then I’m not totally sure what I did to make them work. :)

Thanks so much for this Michelle. I joined NetworkedBlogs a while back and then after a while deleted it because I really didn’t know what to do with it. Now I know and will get it back up, thanks!!

It helps to know what to do with all those apps on Facebook. There are so many! I’m glad this was useful for you, Gillian.

Susan Berland says
This is fabulous information. I’ve had a lot of difficulty with Networked Blogs. Now that I navigated away from their fan page, I can’t even get back to it! I have the tab on my fan page but it is showing an old blog I no longer have and I just realized that it is still listed on NetworkedBlogs when I go to the syndication page. I don’t have either syndicated; that is, automatically pulled to my FB page or profile. I prefer to do that myself. But I can’t for the life of me figure out how to remove the old blog and now my new one isn’t showing on my personal profile. The app shows in my list of apps but the link takes me to the NetworkedBlog app and not to a list of my blog posts like it used to. Can you help?
Thank you!

Michelle Shaeffer says
Hi Susan, that one sounds a bit complicated. Is the old blog still associated with your profile on Facebook?
Try this to remove the old one:
– login to Facebook
– go to http://apps.facebook.com/blognetworks/userpage.php
– scroll down and see what’s listed under “Blogs I Write”
– if the old one is there, click on the title to go to it’s page
– on the right under the thumbnail there’s a delete link you can click
Hope this helps. :)

Excellent posts Michelle, thanks and well done! Have shared with a friend because I bumbled through setup all myself over the last few days and couldn’t even explain how to her. Wished I’d found your post a little earlier :) The onlly thing I’m now having trouble with is my image/thumbnail. The networked blogs forum says images must be turned on in your rss, but I can’t figure out how. Have checked feedburner and plug in. Any ideas? Thx
Ally E. Peltier says
Michelle, this tutorial was so incredibly helpful. I just added the Blog tab to my Page successfully and will be sharing your informative post with all my Fans so they can do the same. Thank you times a million.

I appreciate that, Ally. :)
Isabel Blake says
Does this application post the comments left on your blog to your fan page as well?
Michelle Shaeffer says
No, not that I’m aware of. You could use Facebook’s commenting box to sort of integrate comments between the two places, if you wanted, though.
Keila Gonzalez says
Hi, This is super helpful thank you!!! I’ve been looking all over how to add the app to my business page.
Melanie Kissell @SoloMompreneur says
To save my soul, I can’t locate the “Browse more applications” tab after I click “apps”. Looked all over the page from top to bottom. Do you think Facebook has changed anything since your post was published, Michelle? Because that’s my biggest suspicion. :(
Candi Elm says
I have added my blog through networkedblogs to facebook. It posts twice and I don’t know what I did.
Where can I see where the other one is coming from. It just shows a note next to the like button.
