Awesome! Love your video and your energy! :)

Wonderful idea to guest post on other blogs that resonate with your own work!

Hey Debbie, you should post in the Ultimate Blog Challenge group that you're looking for guest blog opportunities — I bet there are bloggers there you'd be a great fit for! Actually… you've given me a great idea… I'll post a thread and send out an email about it later this week to see if we can't start helping bloggers hook up for this. :)

Having multiple blogs (with different focuses), I have wrestled with this question also. In addition to the stuff you mentioned, I have discovered that outside events (news, conventions, etc.) also factor into the answer.

That's one of the first things I try to keep in mind when I'm planning out my blog content each month–what's happening with business events, family or holidays, etc because you're right, it does affect our blogging frequency and we want to plan for that.

Oh my eyes! All those colors! And all that groovy music! And the Ken Burns effect gone wild!

But WONDERFUL advice, though: Test to find whatever frequency work best, but PROMOTE more than you write.

Question: Both are strategically important, but which would you rate higher for attracting traffic — commenting on blogs vs guest blogging? Thanks in advance.

        LOL

Yep, gotta promote more than we write!

For attracting traffic, I'd say probably guest blogging if you're looking at one post vs. one comment. But for building a relationship within a community at a blog (and with the blog owner, which can lead to the guest post opportunity), blog commenting works great. And if you've got great headlines, even just commenting on CommentLuv enabled blogs can help generate traffic. :)

I normally post 2-3 times a week, plus once on my art blog. My goal is to get noticed, and I feel that's a number I can maintain without getting overwhelmed.

Are you kidding me? Can you get any more awesome? I started blogging every weekday in December, and the result was seeing my traffic DOUBLE and my page views QUADRUPLE. Now, for the month of January I'm blogging every day, including the weekend, and the results are that I'm still seeing increase. It is awesome! Plus, I'm getting comments thanks to your techniques and groups! Thanks!

This has really helped–I've never thought about how important it is to promote, so I appreciate your pointing it out! I'm a newbie blogger and it has been awesome to be part of the UBC.

I've posted 1-2 times a week for just the reason you explained – to have time to promote and give readers time to check it out before I post something new. And, as you know I love being a guest blogger on colleague's sites as well as having guests on my blog. It's a wonderful way to share information and relationships. Thanks. ~Debra

You're doing an excellent job using videos to share your content.

I don't post as often as I should but I do promote my posts. I have been a guest blogger twice and both times I was asked to do a post. One was done before I understood what blogging was all about – it was 6 months or less of being a blogger and the other about a year ago. I have never actively looked for guest blogging opportunities. I need to slay two dragons … videos and guest blogging.

      Thanks for sharing

      Hi Michelle
I usually post 2 times a week and more if I want to share something extra with my readers. I agree with you that promoting your blog is vital, I have seen a significant increase in traffic since I started blog hopping and leaving comments, I also think building up a good relationship with our readers is a must, it keeps them coming back.
Thanks for sharing some great tips Michelle, have a great day

Lately it seems that I can only manage between 1-3 posts per week. For one thing, I am an obsessive researcher, and since my blog deals with things related to actual history, I want to make sure I have everything right. And sometimes the research takes days.

I DO need to spend some time promoting my posts more than I do…which is hardly at all.

When, and if, I ever get more time available I am going to look into guest posting opportunities. That is something I have thought about in the past, but I never really put much thought into it. I would LOVE for someone to guest post on my blog so I could relax for a minute and not worry about not having enough content through the week…especially with the UBC. I'm totally failing that lol.

Certain topics DO need a lot more research time than others, so kudos to you for making that a priority, Angie. I'm sure your readers appreciate your thoroughness.

You're welcome to use the UBC group to invite guest bloggers (just be clear about what topics you're looking for posts on so you get good offers). :)

      Hey Michelle,

      Awesome video post!

I like your energy to do a 30 day blog challenge, that's a lot of writing and promoting! We also get asked the how often question, and did more research after visiting your site to pull together stats on how often small businesses should not only blog, but also post on Facebook and tweet, if they're using those platforms, using simple math.

      What do you think? http://bit.ly/14VUrFe

      Thanks for the inspiration,

      Dear Michelle,

The video you have about utilizing Pinterest as a resource to promote our blogs, etc. was simply amazing. I tried to comment under comments of the video, but it didn't allow me a Google or a guest option. It would allow me to use Yahoo only if I gave Facebook permission to use my personal info. I wasn't sure if you were aware of this and thought you'd want to know. Thanks again for all the wonderful info. Debbie Seiling

I just wanted you to know I was trying to 1+ you on Google after I submitted this original comment, and clicked on the g+ symbol. It really only allowed me to 1+ some previous things people had 1+'d, but I wasn't able to really comment on the wonderful Pinterest video I just watched. If you send me info to [email protected] , I it might make it easier for me to give you credit for the wonderful information you share with bloggers. Thanks so much, Debbie Seiling
