Overcoming Secret Blogging Fears: Others Are Already Blogging about the Same Topic

28 Flares 28 Flares ×

Are secret fears holding you back from jumping head first into blogging? Don’t let them! Blogging is nothing to be afraid of and it can do amazing things for your online business.  This is part 8 in an 8 part series to help you bust through your blogging fears!

Others Are Already Blogging About It…

There are lots of successful blogs about online marketing, website building, and blogging—the same topics I blog about.  You know what that proves?  People are interested!

If you’ve got a topic in mind that you want to blog about, you want competition (or better yet, potential collaborators and awesome colleagues!).

I can buy shoes at a hundred different stores online but that doesn’t stop the smart ones from making sales. There’s the low price leader like Payless, fashion boutiques like Nordstroms, charity supporting stores like Toms, service-centric sites like Zappos. They each choose a specific audience, play on their uniqueness, and it works.

Remember that when we’re learning about any topic, we generally don’t choose only one source of info. I’ve got marketing books on my shelf by more authors than I want to count! All of their voices add something different to my knowledge.

Blogs are the same way–a chorus of easily accessible information we can learn from. If there are successful blogs on your topic already that’s a sign that people want learn about it which is a good thing!

You are unique. Your voice is unique. And there are people waiting to hear you share your knowledge and life’s journey in the voice only you can share it in.

And that, in a nutshell, is what busts through all of these excuses. Your blog is your stage. And your audience is waiting. So get out there!

What do you think?

I love your posts … your examples are spot on. Just when we think there can’t be another new drink coming to market, there it is. Who needs another hamburger joint when we have McDonald but, there they are and some of them are successful. It all boils down to this: overcoming that sneaky, pesky, inner self-doubt that will morph into many things to keep you from moving forward with your goals.

Even if others would talk about the same topic I do, I don’t mind. :) I know I have my own style of saying things.

I felt a little unsure about taking up blogging but once I took the plunge I never looked back. I’ve made some real friends and even a little pocket money.

Very good Michelle. Great insight and so true. As a writer, I have writing books from numerous authors because as you say, they all offer a little different perspective. I actually wrote a poem about this one time. Such freedom this perspective gives. I retweeted it to share with others. Keep up the good writing!

I can so relate to this one, Michelle! One day I am full of ideas and writing down and flying through, next day I’m not sure if and what I should write about.

Thanks for the pick up ;)

I used to doubt myself too, until I made one little thought:
If there is at least one person (me) who likes something in particular, there must definitely be some more in this planet who are interested in this.
Go for them — and, because you know and like your subject, you will know where to find those people and what to say to them.

I have just started blogging and it’s starting to become easy. You just have to write and share. I do understand the apprehension about writing blogs. I thinks this article helps.

      thanks!
