I Made Myself a Promise (You Should, Too)

I didn’t write resolutions for 2015. I didn’t set any goals. Didn’t even choose a theme word (or three).

Instead I just made myself this promise.

NotAfraid

Done worrying about what others think about my decisions.

Done being paralyzed by fear of being judged or what someone might say.

I will work every single day to be better, to do better, to learn more and push myself to become who I need to be to make a difference for myself, my children, and the world around me.

That’s it. Welcome to 2015.

I made myself a promise this year: I will not be afraid.

Excellent idea. We all waste so much time being afraid. This is a brilliant way to ensure your life is enhanced in 2015. I think I will adopt this philosophy too!

I dropped my last fear in 2014. I have nothing emotional stopping me now. This year I’ll be roaring even louder, and having a lot more fun in my business. I’m doing less traditional marketing, and more creative stuff. I’ve even challenged myself to do at least one piece of art every day.

I love this Michelle and I’m with you on this. This year I too choose not to be worried about what others think and will no longer be paralyzed by fear of being judged or worry what others are saying. The world needs your gift Michelle and I’m so proud of you for stepping up.

fear is the main factor that prohibits us from achieving what we can achieve. Overcoming fear is very much needed in our life so that we can succeed.

    Hi Michelle.
This post is so simple and so powerful. I agree that we don’t really need to make New Years resolutions. Setting an intention to be better, do better, and become who we need to be to make a difference in the lives of those around us has so much more value. Thank you for this inspirational post. Best wishes.

I am taking a course from Michael Hyatt called Your Best Year Ever. On one of his pod cast he said that New Year Resolutions do not work. I think he said about 95-98% fall off by about 6 months. I agree there has to be some kind of accountability part to it. This is why his program works so well. He has a Group where you can communicate with others. Lets make this year rock for 2015.

I am working right now on my Blog and all the data on it is dummy data right now.

Thank you for sharing your promise for 2015. This is also the one thing that keeps stopping me from moving forward- afraid what others would think of me makes me stop myself. Ginny I agree with you about moving forward and taking action as I have sat too long on the sidelines and need to get know I GOT this. Thank you both and love the mantra I GOT this!

Michelle, I have inside knowledge of just exactly HOW big a step this is for you. BIG congrats!

I am glad that you are dropping fear. You consistently make way too many ripples of good in the pool of humanity to be in fear. Fear probably isn’t all bad; it might do some good for those who are not making waves of good out there!!!

It is inspiring to see you go from making ripples, to splashes to waves- and now you’re following has expanded to a point where you create tidal waves. Keep doing what you are doing. Fear has no place whatsoever in your world!

Michele, love your promise for 2015, thanks for sharing! Fear is often paralyzing and limits us from obtaining our full potential. When we make bold decisions and kick fear in the gut, the possibilities are unlimited! Thanks for all you do!

    Hey Michelle

    WOOHOOO

I have chosen to be more courageous – with my actions, with my feelings and with my words – this year.

Fear has been my best friend for too long. It would be unrealistic to say that I can shed this paralyzing cloak on a jiffy, so I am just going to take baby steps every day to challenge my phobias :-)

One of my greatest fears is quite silly for most, but it is REAL for me: the fear of phones.

My heart gets pounding at the thought of calling someone, but if I want to further my writing goals, I need to get comfortable with that little thing in my pocket :-) (I succeeded in calling my cousin – yes, my cousin – after battling that fear for hours. But I haven’t returned her call – since she didn’t pick up the first time – due to this choke-hold :-()

    Baby steps

    Thanks Michelle #HUGSSS

    Hi Michelle!!

YEAH YOU!! The new branding looks super. Love it. I am with you. A personal vow or motto for the year goes so much further and deeper. Mine is along the same lines. For my business. Your Brand. Your Story. Your Voice. Rock on Sister!! – J. Daniels (working on new blog, thirtyplusmom.com)

  15. Chef William Chaney says

I agree with you 100 percent. I will be doing a lot of filling in the blanks from all that I learned last year so I can make my blog into what I really want it to be. It will require stepping forward each day so reach that goal

So I guess your song for 2015, Michelle, will be Brave by Sara Bareilles. I love, love, LOVE that song! (Big Smiles)

For my I am focusing on being more on purpose. I have an A5 card taped to the wall by my bed – so that it’s the first and last thing that I see each day. It says, “Be On Purpose! Live Life Like You Mean It!”

That’s my mantra for 2015. Having battled with depression and lack of self-belief for too long, I’ve realised that I need to be more on purpose and make things happen. I know what I’m capable of. I just need to do it!

I completely agree with you. I have lost around 1.5 years, being afraid to take actions. I was like broken for the past few months, and things began to align by the end of 2014. When I started to get my track back, I have decided to take action.

    Wonderful post :-)
