Why I’m Giving Up 2 Mochas a Month

7 Flares 7 Flares ×

Usually on Sundays I share an inspirational video. Today want to share one that’s a little bit different.

One of the reasons I wanted to create my own business was so I could make a difference. A difference for my family, my clients, and the world around me.

Sometimes it feels like there’s so much need and so little we can do…

But we can ALL make a difference! Would you join me in skipping two mochas a month? For just $7 we can help change lives.

Join me in making a difference for Africa.  I’ve signed up with Mocha Club to support clean water in areas of Sudan where the war-torn areas are without clean water.

Together we can help: http://themochaclub.org/joinme/MichelleShaeffer

Great idea, Michelle. And, if you lived in a real city, you would be able to donate $ 10! (Welcome to the East Coast pricing!)

When I lived nearer the east coast (western Pennsylvania), my biggest challenge was just finding coffee shops. I was so glad when a Panera Bread went up in the town we were in. :) I’d imagine pricing differences are interesting though.

On a serious note though, being a coffee drinker the concept really hit home with me. Such a tiny change but it can make a difference.

That is a great cause Michelle I do not frequent coffee shop but I find many other ways to give most of the time things to involve children hospitals but I think that because of my son I like to know that cures are bing found for this that stricken children.

This is a great idea Michelle! My wife and I want to make a difference in people’s lives too through our business and we have a handful of awesome charities we give to.

Fantastic Michelle, I’m going to consider this – we have 2 sponsored children via Compassion Intl. already but an added $7.00 [min sacrifice would be chocolate :)] a month sounds doable. Thanks for sharing.

You’re right Michelle, we ALL can make a difference and I’m honored to know you and how you are making a difference. When planning my budgets I’ll keep this in mind. I too do what I can to make a difference and support Community Welcome House, a safe haven for battered women and children. Keep up the good work Michelle…we ALL can make a difference.

Doing this makes you a real hero and I salute you for being that kind of person you are.
There’s just so much we can do to give happiness to people who are in chaos financially, spiritually and emotionally.
We are all one, living in the same world, therefore we are brothers and sisters who should care with one another.Showing love and care through giving up something is a truly inspirational.

    7. Marcia Francois, Organising Queen says

I’ve been sponsoring a World Vision child for the last 13 years. I just did it and once I put it as an item in my budget, my mentality changed and it wasn’t a “can I do this” but a “I have to do this”.

In those days it was a third of the cost it is now but it’s still easy because I consider it that important.

That’s one of the things my parents let me do as a child (they paid, I just got the letters and wrote back) and it made a difference in the way I saw things. Then I traveled to Honduras as a teen and it really hit me how “real” it was. There’s so much need but anything we can do can make a difference for someone less fortunate.
