What’s the Secret to Life Balance?

?t?????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????? If you know the answer to that one, would you share it with me?

Until I know what the secret is, I kind of suspect it’s not quite possible in the way we tend to think of it. So I keep listening, watching and learning from those who’ve got it a little more figured out than I do in one way or another.

One of my favorite segments of James Malinchak’s Big Money Speaker Bootcamp last month was when he had Patricia Heaton, Marcia Cross, and Dr. Bill Dorfman on stage to talk about success, failure, persistence, life balance and more.  Here’s what I learned from what they shared:

What do you think? How do you look at life balance? How do you deal with requests on your time? Do you shoot the turkeys?

I am fortunate enough that my wife and I work our business together so Balance is a bit easier that we spend so much time together

Sometimes it feels like I’m living on a turkey farm and at other times it seems that everyone is supporting me as I move forward. Balance needs to be adjusted depending on what point of our pathway we are on at the moment. Enjoyed your video as always.

Yeah, spring has sprung here too. I like the “just because you’re free doesn’t mean you’re available.” A weekend or two ago, I found I had some free time and thought “what can I do next?” I decided I didn’t have to fill the time with anything other than sitting down and finishing a book I had been reading.
It was so nice to “give myself permission” to just relax into that.
      Thanks & enjoy the weather.

I love “just because your free, doesn’t mean you are available” — that was like a total lightbulb moment, a huge DUH. I really need to get better at saying “Nope. Not today.”

And I totally agree about surrounding yourself with those that will help support, lift and cheerlead you on your “adventure”. I’m finding it easier and easier to let stuff go and that also includes those negative nellies that seem to find their way into our lives >_<

Thanks for sharing your beautiful day, Michelle! XXOOXXOO

I have 3 children 6,4 and baby about to turn 2. My youngest is home with me full time – I juggle a business and book promotion with school runs, swimming and ballet but I wouldn’t have it any other way! I write a lot in the UK about work/life balance especially for mums in business. My 2 top tips would be :- 1. Work life balance will me be something different for everyone. You can learn lots of tools, read lots of tips but ultimately YOU need to develop a happy medium for you. 2. Have tunnel vision – networking us a life line but DO NOT get hooked up on how fast your peers businesses are growing you never know what their personal circumstances are.

Most of all though have fun! In the UK most mums start their own business as a way to develop a flexible working life and cut out long hours high childcare costs so don’t stress if business growth is slower than you’d like … Your children’s growth is FAST!

      An enlightened moment!

Life balance is one of my many favorite topics. Some believe that “life balance” should be thrown under the bus because it’s not possible. For me, life balance has nothing to do with equal time for the important areas of one’s life, it means taking SOME time for all areas (health, family/friends, spiritual wellness, financial health, business/career, personal development, emotional health, fun/leisure, romantic relationship, creative outlet), a few minutes is OK until one can do more.

      Thanks for sharing!

Life balance is something we all struggle with, especially when you’re younger. I’m older now and I’ve been a single mom for 16 years, so I’ve learned a lot about getting things done, and when to let things do. I wrote an article a while back that you might find useful – http://sanesuperwomanclub.com/members/index.php/motivation/1087-survival-tips-from-a-single-mom
