The answer is simple.
Add social networking sharing buttons — specifically the Tweet button!
BrightEdge released a report this month with all sorts of great data about social sharing statistics gathered from the top 10,000 websites. You can find the basics plus a link to download the whole thing here: http://seo-blog.brightedge.com/general/september-brightedge-socialshare-report-the-marketing-benefits-of-social-buttons/
A quote from the report:
“It’s clear that social sharing buttons can drive real social traffic that will inevitably drive sales, brand awareness or even affinity but it’s also clear that many brands are not taking advantage of this simple, cost free tool,” said Jim Yu, CEO of BrightEdge.
Have you got your social sharing buttons installed yet? It’s easy!
If you’re on WordPress, just choose the plugin you want to use (I am using SexyBookmarks and DiggDigg currently, but there are lots of great choices out there).
If you’re not on WordPress, check out the options that are available to you. AddToAny.com or ShareThis.com may work well.
Challenge
Take 10 minutes and do them now. It’ll be one of the best choices you’ve made for your website — ever. Plus, then I can tweet your website easily and I appreciate that, as will your other visitors. :)
Your Turn!
If you use s sharing plugin for WordPress or another option on your website, which one do you like and why?
As a reader, which options are you most likely to use? Do you Tweet? Stumble? Like?

I think I like “liking” the best, because it is so darn easy. I’m lazy like that. LOL I also like Tweeting, because that is pretty darn easy too. I’m pretty sure I’m not the only one who feels that way, though. I have such a limited amount of time that I don’t want to spend 5 mins recommending something that I like. I don’t mean that in a rude way, so I hope you don’t take it like that! I just want to be able to maximize the amount of stuff I can do in my small amount of time.
I have yet to really fall in love with StumbleUpon, but I keep hearing it’s important, so I should probably start paying closer attention.

I’m seeing more and more the social metrics impacting ranking. It’s definitely a good idea to add these social widgets and become more social. Look at what Google has done now with the +1 button. Isn’t that an indication?

Agreed with report…… If you get more tweets for your content then it can easily rank in seach engines. Link building is old and primary base for good SERP but now no one can ignore social media presence.

Thanks for this important reminder, Michelle. I do have mine in place, but it’s important for newbies to remember.
PS Wanted to make sure you saw your blog on my new CommentLuv enabled blog list!

I personally like and tweet but somethings I’m looking for different buttons, like Google Reader. I don’t understand why so few people use this one as Google reader is very popular. That’s why I place that button instead of RSS subscriber button in my websites.

That’s why I place that button on most of my websites.

I use SexyBookmarks by Shareaholic because I love the look of them and because you can include multiple options without them gettiing in the way.
When i share I am more likely to tweet and like and +1 because it is fast and easy. If I really like something I’ll Stumble it as well or I might Amplify it (even though that isn’t on most options).

I’m most likely to tweet and 1+ too. I don’t “like” much on Facebook because I use my profile for personal connections, but I will “share” to my fan page, when I have that option. :)
Fast and easy is good when it comes to sharing online.
