Five Great Sites for Unique Fonts

Reading time: 2 – 2 minutes

Ever wondered where those cool fonts you see on certain stand-out websites come from?

Looking for something different to use on your own website to give it a little more “zing”?

If you do your own website or graphics design, or like discovering unique fonts to pass along to your designer, here are some to check out:

  • Font Freak -  http://fontfreak.com/fonts-new.htm
  • DaFont – http://www.dafont.com/
  • 1001 Free Fonts – http://www.1001freefonts.com/
  • Acid Fonts – http://www.acidfonts.com/
  • Font Garden – http://www.fontgarden.com/

When you download a font from the internet, always look inside the zip file for a readme.txt or similar file that includes the author’s info and terms of use.  Some fonts are restricted and not available for commercial use (this would include your website, ebooks, etc if you’re in business) or are only available with a royalty fee or the author’s written permission.  So it’s important to check that file and be sure before you use a font.

Or, if you want an easy way to create your own fancy text in fun fonts, you might like the free online generator at http://www.cooltext.com

Have fun!

I LOVE to spend time checking out different cool-looking fonts! Thanks, Michelle, for sharing your resources.

Here’s my dilemma, though. Once you’ve downloaded the fonts you like, how do you put them on your blog/site? Can you share those steps with me?

    Keep the cool stuff comin’,
